1st Birthday Party

Carter-

It's your 1st Birthday Party!

Inspired by my nickname for you, Car-car, I decided to have a car-themed birthday party.

Unfortunately attendance was a little low- both Pop and Grandpa had medical procedures earlier in the week and couldn't make the trip up. Godparents, Robyn and Jake, had a wedding and car issues. Your other aunts are "official" out of towners, and Uncle JR...hmm, not sure about Uncle JR. Daddy's going to have give him "what-for".

No worries- Mommy invited your buddy, Willa, over along with her family- Jane, Steven, and big brother Crawford, who is in Maevy's class at school.

Mommy made some themed snacks-

Steering Wheel Chicken Pesto Pasta

V8 Veggies with Hummus

Stick Shift Fruit

Brake Light Cupakes (red velvet from Cupcake Collection)

Piston Pimm's Cup Punch (for adults)

Enjoying the snacks-

The rainy weather cleared up for day; so we hung out in the backyard. You played in the sandbox and played us some music. (Banging on pots and pans is your new favorite thing to do inside and outside.)

Mommy and Daddy made this huge birthday banner- (It's pretty fun to see how much you've grown!)

And Daddy even made this cool, cardboard car. Your favorite parts are the balloon head lights and tail lights. (Post-party..not interested in driving with Mommy)
Family guests sent something to include your time capsule, and Mommy and Daddy got you some more car toys to add to your collection. Aunt Lesley also sent more cars and Goodnight Construction Site book. Great Grandpa and Barbara sent a Mega-Block set with wagon.

The best story of the afternoon was when we were singing you Happy Birthday- you were trying to touch the candle. I kept trying to prevent you from touching the candle, but you end up actually putting the flame out with your finger. It definitely startled you, but we finished up the song quickly and distracted with you the cupcake. No tears..and you actually "blew" out your own candle, something most 1 yr olds rarely do! :)

Shocker- you enjoyed the cupcake, especially the icing.
I like this one of all the kids eating...

All the kids back to playing, you still eating-
Gross big sister-

You also also spent the entire afternoon (3pm to 5pm) without a hat on..and not once did you pull an ear out. I have no idea why, but we were pretty impressed.
All in all....it was a wonderful 1st Birthday! We look forward to celebrating many more with you!

Love you always,

Ma-ma and Da-da
