17th Month Update & Hearing Test

Carter-
Umm tell me you aren't cutest darn thing?! You were an all-star at Aunt Robyn and Uncle Jake's wedding a few weeks ago. It was past your bedtime, but you made it down the aisle holding Daddy's hand and your snack bowl. There were no tears; so I deem it a success!

It's been over a month now that you've been able to wear both ears; so we're very hopeful that your left ear is finally cleared up! Last month we were a little worried that the lack of having both ears in for almost two months was starting to affect your speech development. Ms. Geneine asked to see you back in September and you had made some great progress. So no therapy yet; she wants to see you back next month.

Your latest words and phrases are:
Aw man! (This is my favorite!)
Aww/oh no!
Stop
Mine
No
Yeah
Ahh doe (for all done)
Bubble
Up
Help
More
Out
Do (for Go)
Baby
I duh no (I don't know)

We are trying to get away from the signs; so you don't rely on them. But you still sign please, eat, more, and bird. We are constantly working on words like your name or your teacher's name- Miss Catrina (Miss 'Trina) And your mimicking skills are improving. This week your development therapist heard you mimic "art", and your teacher heard you mimic "hands".
Like most toddlers, you don't have much patience. I'll ask you if you are finished with dinner, and you'll say "Ahh doe." A glutton for punishment, I'll ask if you want some milk or more food. Then you start yelling, crying, or pushing your food off your tray...as if to say- "did you hear me say- Ahh Dooe!"

Your new favorite thing to do- climb. You love climbing up on the couch and the bouncing on the couch.

Your favorite things to play with (at least at home) are still the broom and vacuum. I think you think these things are yours because you throw a fit when one of us tries to use them.

Last week, we had your 17th month hearing test. Healthy this time around, you were a rock star. Ms. Danielle again said that you are her best hearing test patient (for your age). Degree of loss is stable, yeah!
Your hearing aids got new back doors, new tubes, new hooks, and a nice cleaning. We also ordered new ear molds, and Mommy picked lime green and forrest green mix. I think it's going to look cool.

Here's your audiogram-
Keep up the good work! Oh and play nice with your friends. You and your classroom friends like to bite. You've only had 1 incident report this last month, when you bit a friend and he bit you back (on the face!) Yikes!

Love you lots Stinky-booty-

Mommy
